An 92-year-old Holocaust survivor endured a brutal beating from another passenger while using a transportation service designed for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
A report by the Canadian press revealed that 92-year-old Hanka Fogelman was attacked by an unidentified individual in a taxi. The taxi driver had warned her about the man’s dangerous behavior.
“The driver knew he was aggressive. He told me not to talk to him. ‘He is aggressive and dangerous,’ he said,” the victim shared with Go Public, as reported by CBC.
“She sustained a broken nose, facial wounds, and bruises,” recounted her daughter Debbie to CBC Canada.
Hanka spent a month in the hospital recovering from the assault and was still not fully healed two months later.

Man not charged
Hanka was using a taxi service provided by the Société de transport de Montréal, which caters to senior passengers. The incident occurred in November 2018 as she was en route to one of her daughter’s homes, according to CBC Canada.
The assailant, a young man with a mental disorder, was not prosecuted for the assault on the elderly woman.
“I look at my mother and her mind is so bright. But physically she is very vulnerable. Why was that man in that taxi? Why did the taxi driver place my mother next to such a violent person?” questioned Rona in an interview with CBC Canada.
“We assure you that there was nothing to suggest that the passenger was in danger during that ride because of the other passenger,” stated spokesperson Philippe Déry in an email to Go Public.
No individual should ever have to live in fear of such attacks.
