Inside the residence where the tragic incident occurred, two pit bulls were present, and it was during the period the one-year-old was left alone with them that the fatal attack transpired.

Disturbing Scene

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities described encountering “bloody scenes.”

Law enforcement speculates that an altercation between the girl’s uncle and his girlfriend, who were supervising the child, agitated the pit bull terriers, leading to their aggressive behavior.

When the couple briefly stepped away from the room, the dogs seized the opportunity to attack the infant.

Eyewitness Account

Based on information from The Sun, the police report detailed the girl as being “torn to shreds” by the family’s dogs.

“As the nurses carried the child outside… it’s an image I will never forget,” recounted a neighbor.

Despite prompt medical attention at the hospital, the young girl succumbed to her injuries.

Several neighbors interviewed by the authorities expressed minimal surprise at the dogs’ aggression towards the child. One neighbor recalled a past incident where the dogs had bitten a mailman.

“(The dog) bit him hard, in his hand, in his leg. Of course, he hadn’t done anything wrong, he did say he wouldn’t deliver mail there anymore.”

History of Attacks

The same neighbor who witnessed the distressing ambulance departure with the girl attested:

“I wouldn’t let my grandchildren play outside, because I didn’t know if the dogs were in the house.”

Expressing confusion, the neighbor questioned why the couple was allowed to retain the dogs after the previous altercation with the mailman the preceding summer.

“They should have gotten rid of the dogs, that’s my opinion,” the neighbor conveyed to The Sun.
