Giuseppe Ulleri, a 61-year-old man with Down Syndrome, passed away due to hospital negligence that resulted in him not being fed for 20 days.
According to sources, Joe suffered a fall at a supported living center and was later transferred to a hospital in Manchester, England.
Initially, he was discharged back to the center but further scans revealed multiple fractures, including in his pelvis and neck.

Due to his injuries, Joe required surgeries, leaving him unable to eat independently. Aware of his swallowing difficulties, caregivers opted not to provide oral nutrition.
Uncertain about the appropriate feeding method, Joe went without food for nearly three weeks, a shocking neglect of his basic care needs.
Despite being in a reputed hospital, the lack of adequate care and attention proved fatal for Joe.

Efforts were made to help Joe regain his ability to speak and swallow, including swallowing exercises and eventually resorting to a feeding tube through his nose for continuous nutrition, albeit it was insufficient.
Tragically, Joe lost his life due to malnutrition resulting from the hospital’s negligence.
His family holds the hospital accountable for his preventable death, emphasizing that proper actions could have saved his life.
