Almost everyone knows how much love and joy pets can bring. What could be nicer than snuggling with your dog, cat, or guinea pig?
You could almost forget that these beloved rascals can sometimes drive you up the wall or, worse, cause a commotion in the neighborhood.
Guinea Pig on a Collision Course
The latter is obviously quite rare, but that’s exactly what a guinea pig in Velp, Gelderland, accomplished last week. The local fire department received a quite unusual call on Friday afternoon: a guinea pig had ensconced itself in a play structure in a neighborhood playground.
Everybody Lends a Hand
Omroep Gelderland posted a humorously edited video of the scene on YouTube, showing everyone sparing no effort to save the animal.
The fire department seems to need a whole toolbox to dismantle the structure, while a neighbor is seen trying to encourage the guinea pig to move with some gardening tools.
All’s Well That Ends Well
It’s not entirely clear how long the operation lasted, but fortunately, the owner – apparently a little girl – can ultimately hold her beloved guinea pig in her arms again. How the guinea pig got itself into such a predicament is unknown.
According to Omroep Gelderland, a report has been filed with the municipality regarding the play structure. It was completely disassembled and will likely need to be re-inspected. For the safety of the children, of course, and perhaps a little bit for defiant guinea pigs as well…
