Blake Lively’s Hollywood Confession: Blacklisting a Co-Star
Blake Lively once admitted to Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley that she badmouthed him to other colleagues of the show. This news is resurfacing amid all the commotion with Justin Baldoni.
What Happened Between Blake Lively and Penn Badgley
Blake confessed to instigating the rest of the Gossip Girl cast against her co-star Penn in a 2009 interview that has resurfaced, as reported by The Daily Mail. In the series, Blake played Serena van der Woodsen, the love interest of Penn’s character, Dan Humphrey.
However, Blake was not happy with Penn’s casting for the role, so she made a concerted effort to turn the rest of the cast against him. According to The Daily Mail, she shared with Glamour in 2009: ‘At first, I was so angry that they hired him. I actually just turned the whole cast against him. But then they realized he wasn’t a jerk and that he was actually a very nice, charming person. I realized that almost immediately, but it took about a week for me to admit it.’ Poor Penn.
From Anger to Dating
Why Blake was so angry about Penn’s casting remains unclear, as does her decision to immediately turn the entire cast against him without knowing him. Fortunately, she quickly changed her mind, and not only that – according to her, they also saw each other outside of filming, which eventually led to a relationship. The two became a couple in 2007 and stayed together for three years.
Neither Penn nor fellow Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester follow Blake on Instagram, as noted by The Daily Mail. Blake’s former Gossip Girl colleagues have also not commented on all the commotion surrounding her and Justin Baldoni.
