Amy Smith and her two-year-old daughter Demi-Mai were enjoying a day at Kitson Park in Torquay, England, when a fun outing took a dangerous turn.
Demi-Mai sustained a leg injury from broken glass on a slide, leaving her mother Amy to believe the glass may have been deliberately placed there. Amy is now sharing her story to alert other parents.
Dem-Mai and Amy frequented Kitson Park, where the young girl had recently mastered climbing the rope to reach the top of the slide. Amy cheered on her daughter’s accomplishment, only for their joy to turn to distress when Demi-Mai encountered the sharp glass on her way down.
Amy wasted no time rushing Demi-Mai to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injury did not require stitches, but Demi-Mai needed time to heal. Amy reached out to the park authorities, urging them to clean up the dangerous debris to prevent further harm.
“I’m really angry that someone would do something like this in a children’s play park,” expressed Amy to The Mirror.
Amy suspects foul play involving deliberate placement of the glass on the slide and is using her voice to raise awareness. She advises parents to remain vigilant during visits to public playgrounds.
“By sharing what happened, I hope to alert other parents and prevent similar incidents from occurring,” added Amy in her conversation with The Mirror.
Amy expressed bewilderment at the thought of someone intentionally endangering children with broken glass in a playground. Regardless of intent, she emphasizes the importance of promptly cleaning up any broken glass out of consideration for others, especially in spaces where children play.
