Children’s birthdays are filled with joy. From friends and games to decorations and cake, there are many reasons to smile. Seeing your little one open gifts and gaze at them in wonder is truly heartwarming.
As parents, we always want the best for our kids, especially when it comes to choosing gifts that are safe for them. However, this wasn’t the case for a mother from Blackpool, England, who recently had a concerning experience.
Lisa Connor purchased a pair of pink jelly sandals from the popular British retailer Next for her 2-year-old daughter’s birthday. Unfortunately, these seemingly harmless shoes caused a serious issue for her daughter’s feet, leading Lisa to caution other parents about the potential dangers of these sandals.
Two-year-old Esmé wore the new jelly sandals for just half an hour before she began screaming in pain. When Lisa examined her daughter’s feet, she was shocked to find them covered in blood.
According to Lisa, “Esmé was in absolute agony. I couldn’t believe it because she’d only had them on for half an hour. It’s not like she’d been running around in them for hours. She’d just been walking round the house and then came to us in tears,” as reported by Metro UK.
Lisa acknowledged that new shoes might rub a bit or be uncomfortable initially, but this level of injury was far from normal. Esmé’s feet were completely bloody, prompting her father to comfort her an hour later, although the incident had already marred the girl’s birthday celebrations.
The retailer, Next, accepted the return of the sandals and is conducting an inspection to determine if there are any issues with the product. However, Lisa believes that the sandals should no longer be sold by the chain to prevent similar incidents.
Sharing her ordeal, Lisa said, “Other parents saw my pictures and messaged me to say they’d had similar issues. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”
A spokesperson for Next mentioned that the company had not encountered such an issue before.
Please share Lisa’s warning with all parents you know to prevent any more children from experiencing such harm!
