Many of us may have come across a curious cat that marches to the beat of its drum. These are the cats that venture out during the day, disappearing into the unknown. They may return in the afternoon, sometimes with a catch like a mouse in tow.
For cat owners, the decision of whether to let their feline friend roam outdoors or keep them as indoor companions is a significant one.
Each choice comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Ultimately, it’s crucial to consider and honor the distinctive needs and temperament of your cat.
Living in a city can present challenges for many cat owners who may prefer to keep their cats indoors due to the risks posed by traffic and urban hazards.
Conversely, for those living outside the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing their cat outdoor freedom can be beneficial. It gives the cat the opportunity to climb trees, hunt for prey, and return home with little surprises around their neck!
Such was the case one evening near San Francisco, as detailed by the cat’s owner on the online platform Reddit.
A Well-Known Feline Adventurer
Nala, the cat in question, is a familiar figure in the neighborhood, as reported by the animal website Paw my gosh. She appears to be a daring lady who relishes her evening outdoor escapades.
On one late evening, Nala returned home with a note attached to her collar. The family eagerly unraveled the note to discover its contents, written in ink:

According to the owner’s account on Reddit, the note read:
“I don’t know whose cat this is, but she comes to visit us every week. She usually meows by our back door until we let her in, she rubs against our legs, walks around the house as if it’s her own, stands and waits by the refrigerator until my husband or I give her some food. She doesn’t like a certain brand of cat food! We look forward to her visit. We lost our own 21-year-old cat earlier this year.”
The neighbors expressed their fondness for Nala in the beautifully penned note. It turned out that they had recently lost their beloved 21-year-old cat, and they welcomed Nala to their home whenever she pleased. A small drawing of a cat adorned the bottom of the note.
