Dogs not only show loyalty to their owners but also have a remarkable ability to interact well with other animals and sense danger.
The Golden Doodle named Harley demonstrated this when he fearlessly entered the water to rescue a small deer in distress.
Ralph Dorn, a retired Marine Corps pilot from Virginia, is the proud owner of Harley, the Golden Doodle.
On June 2, while they were at a lake near their home, Ralph realized that Harley was missing.
To his surprise, Ralph spotted Harley in the water, swimming towards the middle of the lake. Initially puzzled by Harley’s actions, Ralph soon realized the gravity of the situation.
In the center of the lake, a small deer was struggling for survival.
Harley took matters into his own paws, seized the fawn, and began towing it back to safety.
“I’m not sure how the deer got there, but Harley didn’t hesitate, he just sprung into action,” wrote Ralph in a Facebook post.

Thankfully, both Harley and the fawn reached the shore unharmed. Harley showed protective instincts towards the young deer.
“Harley didn’t want to leave the animal,” Ralph told People. He stayed by its side, playing, licking, and caring for it.
Surprisingly, Harley and the fawn maintained their bond after the incident.
Couldn’t believe his eyes
The following day, Ralph witnessed Harley’s restlessness and found him gazing out the front door. To his amazement, the deer was outside, seemingly wanting to reunite with Harley and express gratitude for saving its life.
They shared a brief, emotional reunion before the deer departed with its mother. Harley’s heroic act captured the attention of the internet, with the post being shared over 253,000 times.
Ralph shared that while he is delighted by the widespread impact of the story, Harley’s courageous deed didn’t come as a surprise.
He highlighted that Harley is a therapy dog who has brought comfort to both the elderly and children.
