Everyone who has raised a child – or is about to – can testify to how difficult it is. Let’s be honest, the last thing a child thinks about is making their mother or father’s life easier.
That being said, the struggle is part of the fun. At the end of the day, we work hard to see our children grow up happily, despite how frustrating our children can be. Why? Because we love them with a passion reserved solely for them.
That’s why the following story is even more shocking. It involves a Russian woman and her horrific method of calming down her six-year-old girl. Saying that it crosses boundaries is an understatement.
According to the British newspaper The Daily Mirror, Katya Spesivtseva lived in the Russian region of Sverdlovsk Oblast in 2015.
The six-year-old did not have an easy life, being born with cerebral palsy and having a mother who cared little about her when it came to patience with her condition.

The mother, Ludmila, detested when her daughter cried. Of course, she should have expected a young child to cry, especially if someone was suffering from health issues. Instead, she became angry at Katya’s screams and decided to do something about it.
One evening, when Katya began to whimper, Ludmila snapped. She yelled at the girl and ordered her to stop. When Katya only increased in volume, Ludmila attacked her own daughter with her teeth.
According to truly disgusting reports, Ludmila grabbed Katya’s lower lip between her teeth and tore it off.

Katya lay for days before her mother decided to call an ambulance, with the doctor discovering that during the ordeal, Ludmila had also attempted to bite off the girl’s nose.
Fortunately, authorities intervened quickly and Ludmila was sent to prison for four years. It was determined that Katya was covered in bruises from other attacks and had contracted several illnesses due to her mother’s neglect.
The young girl was adopted by Anna Makarova-Bespalova after living in various hospitals for a year. She was given a second chance at life; one that her new family was very happy to provide to her.
However, it is tragic that Katya unexpectedly passed away this year, at nine years old. Her official cause of death was heart failure.
“We were not prepared for Katyusha´s decision to leave us,” said Anna. “And although she was not with us for long, the whole family is struggling because of the loss.”
There is nothing that can erase the horror that Katya suffered at the hands of her biological mother, but at least she was given time to know what true love really stands for. A big thank you to Anna Makarova-Bespalova for taking in Katya and giving her the care she deserved.
I pray every day that child abuse comes to an end and yet it seems to be an everlasting issue.
