Soothe Mosquito Bites with This Top Lifehack: Use a Cold Tea Bag!

They may be tiny, but mosquitoes can ruin an entire evening. Once the itching begins, it’s hard to focus on anything else.

The fact that mosquito bites often leave behind swollen and painful skin doesn’t help matters either.

There are various theories about why some people attract more mosquitoes than others. What’s certain is that those who are more prone to mosquito bites have a tough time during the summer months when these pests are active.

Fortunately, there are simple remedies to alleviate the itching without the need for a trip to the pharmacy.

My grandmother shared this trick with me, knowing my sensitivity to mosquito bites. I used to believe that nothing could relieve the itchiness until she introduced me to the tea bag solution.

Using a Wet Tea Bag for Mosquito Bites

Just like cold, wet tea bags can reduce eyelid swelling, they are also effective at soothing swollen mosquito bites and relieving the incessant itching.

All you need is a cool, wet tea bag, preferably green tea as it contains anti-inflammatory properties that have a calming effect on the skin. When applied to the affected area, a well-chilled tea bag can alleviate itching and irritation within 30 seconds.

According to Travel Living, chamomile tea, green tea, and hibiscus tea are particularly effective against itchy mosquito bites.

Preventing Mosquito Bites

Another useful tip for preventing mosquito bites comes from Anita Näsholm from Sollefteå, Sweden, as shared in the magazine Leva & Bo.

“It works wonders. When we traveled to the remote areas of Norrland, I prepared this special mixture and shared it with our hosts. And as you know, there are even more mosquitoes there,” Anita explained.

The homemade repellent comprises just three ingredients. Anita learned about this effective anti-mosquito solution from a radio program.
