Lost and Found: Family Reunited with Dog Missing for 8 Years

When a beloved dog goes missing, the pain and uncertainty can be overwhelming as time passes by. The possibility of ever reuniting with your loyal companion may seem bleak.

However, there are moments of sheer joy when miracles happen, like the incredible story of a family finding their dog after an astounding eight years of separation.

As reported by WPTA21, Cara Seiler and Kailey Kuntz welcomed Kemo into their family as a puppy. Tragically, two years later in 2013, Kemo went missing from their Fort Wayne, Indiana home.

Despite relentless searching, there was no trace of Kemo. Years drifted by, leaving the family with fading hopes of ever seeing their furry friend again.

“We never really stopped looking, always hoped, always looking for missing pets,” shared Cara with WPTA.

However, their persistence paid off when Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control delivered astonishing news – Kemo had been found!

“Kaliey and I cried the whole way from Auburn to Fort Wayne,” Cara recalled.

Rushing to the shelter, they were finally reunited with their long-lost companion. Despite the passing years, the connection remained strong: “It was unreal. When we walked through the door, he knew it was us.”

This emotional moment left the family awestruck, showcasing how microchipping can lead to such heartwarming reunions.

Veterinarians at Fort Wayne Animal Care scanned Kemo’s microchip, instantly linking him back to Cara and Kailey. Remarkably, the chip implanted years ago was still functional.

“It’s so important to microchip your pet, because it never falls off, it never goes away,” emphasized Holly Pasquenelli from Fort Wayne Animal Care in an interview with WPTA.

The unexpected reunion after eight long years left everyone amazed. Pasquenelli expressed, “In my entire career, this is the longest reunion we’ve been able to have.”

Sharing the heartwarming tale on Facebook, Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control highlighted the vital role of microchipping pets, ensuring a feasible way to reunite with lost animals no matter how much time has passed.

“We are thrilled that Kemo is finally reunited with his family! This was such a heartwarming moment to witness and we are so happy that Kemo had a microchip to make this moment possible,” they expressed.

“We hope that this story inspires anyone missing a pet to never give up hope! We also urge everyone to please microchip your pets, just in case they ever get lost.”

The heartwarming reunion of Kemo with his family brings joy after years apart! The unwavering love of his owners shines through, promising a beautiful journey ahead for this reunited family.
