Young Pregnant Woman Told She’s Too Young for Terminal Illness – Weeks Later, Her Life Shattered

She thoroughly enjoyed her pregnancy.
29-year-old Lindsey Gritton longed for and counted the days, like any expectant parent.
But towards the end of her pregnancy, she received a message that not only devastated her own life, but also that of her family.
Several signs had already warned her, and she begged medical services to take her seriously, reports the British The Sun.
But by the time they finally did, the deadly disease had already spread – at an alarming pace.
We assume that we are taken seriously when seeking help from healthcare.
I think, like many others, that my concerns will be met with warmth and understanding.
So when I have to think that there are people encountering hospital staff who show no trace of sympathy, my heart breaks.
Lindsey Gritton knows all too well how bad it can get.
During her pregnancy, she felt a lump in one of her breasts and pain in her armpit.
The pain prompted Lindsey to act quickly and decisively.
She sought medical help to be examined and find out what was going on.
But when she tried to clear the clogged milk duct – a problem she had during her first pregnancy, she couldn’t.
Milk ducts are the tubes that transport breast milk from the breast tissue to the nipple.
Lindsey realized that a doctor should look into what was wrong.
Nobody took her seriously
She hoped it could be solved in a simple way – if only she got help quickly.
So she did what we all do with health problems.
Lindsey sought medical help, but her hand was cold.
They seemed to not take note of her great concern and quickly explained that this was likely due to the issue with her milk duct.
She had to take antibiotics and thought that maybe that would be enough.
But Lindsey’s gut feeling told her something was wrong.
So she sought another doctor and insisted on a more thorough examination.
Deep down, Lindsey had already figured out: it could be cancer.
But when she expressed her great fear, all she heard was “she was too young to get cancer,” reports The Sun.
It would turn out Lindsey was right.
When she saw the technician’s face during the ultrasound, she realized the situation was serious.
‘They can’t say anything to you, but I saw from her face that it wasn’t good.’
The crushing news
The news not only brought a devastating feeling to Lindsey, but the family was now in danger of losing a beloved mother and wife.
Furthermore, Lindsey was well into her second pregnancy when she learned she had breast cancer.
And the cancer was already advanced.
Doctors told her that the tumor in her breast had grown so large that the cancer had spread to her liver.
But to further examine the tumor, the baby in Lindsey’s womb had to come out.
The examination was not possible while she was pregnant.
After the birth of her daughter, the intense treatments began immediately.
Lindsey underwent several radiation treatments and has been shaving her beautiful hair for a while.
The treatments have produced results, as 80 percent of the cancer has disappeared.
Now Lindsey is urging other young women to always take changes in their bodies seriously and seek medical advice at the slightest concern.
“If I hadn’t stood up for myself, I don’t think I would be here today,” she says.
