Lazy or Sick? The Devastating Truth Revealed by Doctors

Lazy or Sick? The Devastating Truth Revealed by Doctors

If something doesn’t seem right, you turn directly to healthcare to investigate what’s going on.

But if even the doctors don’t take you seriously and even call you lazy, it’s no wonder you lose hope.

This is exactly what happened to Courtney Nettleton.

At the age of 20, her health changed drastically.

She started sleeping more and more – eventually sleeping 14 hours a day, writes the British The Sun.

So she went to a doctor to find out what could be wrong. But no one took her seriously.

Now, months later, she has received a fatal diagnosis that has forever changed her life.

Getting older is something most of us take for granted.

But over the course of life, a lot can happen that can turn everything upside down.

Courtney Nettleton was only 20 years old when her life changed.

Like other young adults, she looked forward to truly starting her life and finding herself.

As a young adult, she had her whole life ahead of her, but now Courtney is fighting for her life and wants nothing more than to grow older.

When Courtney noticed she was becoming more and more tired, her gut feeling told her something was wrong.

We all get tired sometimes, but this was something entirely different.

Doctors didn’t take her seriously

Courtney tells The Sun how she could sleep 14 hours a day.

So Courtney did what we all do when something is wrong.

She went to the doctor and demanded an investigation.

The doctors agreed to run tests, but nothing seemed to be wrong.

Instead, 20-year-old Courtney was told she was lazy and that her fatigue could be cured simply by going out more and being more active.

She was sent home and told the hospital staff could do nothing more.

It was up to Courtney to change her life.

“Everyone knows their own body better than anyone. It’s so important to trust your feelings and follow your instincts – you have to stand up for yourself when you know something is wrong,” she says.

Lump in neck discovered

But then she noticed a lump in her neck that was getting bigger.

Just a month later, she received the shocking news: thyroid cancer.

The diagnosis is rare and most common in people in their thirties, where women are affected more often than men, the site writes.

She is now undergoing two types of treatments to beat the disease.

The shocking news broke her heart and Courtney now worries if she will survive.

She had her thyroid removed and underwent several procedures since receiving the nightmare message for the first time.

But in March 2022, Courtney thought everything had turned around.

Doctors gave wrong message too early

The doctors told her she had been cleared of her cancer, only to announce some time later that the disease had spread after all.

The complete turnaround broke her heart.

For a brief moment, she thought her dream had come true and the next moment everything collapsed again.

“I was so upset when I heard that I still had cancer. I had to tell my family and friends that I wasn’t cancer-free and that I had to undergo more treatments”.

Courtney says she has little confidence in healthcare.

“After my first surgery, my doctor called me and said I was completely cancer-free and that I had nothing to worry about.”

“Just three days later, cancer cells were found and I was told I had to undergo another surgery”.

We are deeply sorry that you have had to endure so much misunderstanding and misfortune, Courtney. Our thoughts are with you.
