Shocking Video Captures Officer Slamming Police Dog Against Car Door

A startling video has emerged, showing a North Carolina officer lifting a police dog (referred to as a “K-9” in police terminology) over his shoulder and slamming it forcefully against a car.

The video then reveals the officer, whose identity was not disclosed, harshly handling the dog.

In the footage, another officer can be heard saying, “Go ahead, there are no witnesses.”

The video was initially released by Fox 46, depicting the officer reprimanding the dog for leaping out of the police vehicle.

The video, which lasts approximately a minute, captures Zuul (the dog’s name) jumping out of the vehicle. Subsequently, the officer shouts at the dog, secures it by the collar, places Zuul over his shoulder using a leash, and leads it back to the car.

The video also includes other officers requesting the cameras to be turned off.

During a press briefing, Police Commissioner Jerry Stokes stressed that viewers have not witnessed the complete video and may lack context.

“When a police dog disobeys its handler, the officer is trained to correct the dog’s behavior. When viewed out of context, the training methods could appear overly severe to outsiders,” Stokes explained.

The commissioner assured the public that the dog was not mistreated and can resume its duties without issues.

“This incident serves as a clear example of improper conduct,” remarked Roy Taylor, a seasoned police dog handler, to WTNH News.

In addition to the dog’s well-being, Roy Taylor highlighted the significant cost associated with these dogs.

“Sometimes these dogs can cost up to $25,000,” Taylor mentioned. “It is crucial for the dog to understand whether to jump out of the vehicle or not.”

Zuul and the officer are no longer working together, and an investigation is underway, as reported by WTNH News.

These dogs put their lives on the line daily for these officers. While I understand the need for them to be well-trained, it is difficult for me to accept that this form of treatment is part of their training.

I hope appropriate measures will be implemented to ensure these dogs are not subjected to such punishment. Please share this.
