This is the account of a golden retriever named Cosmos, discovered after sustaining a shot with an arrow piercing his torso.
Upon noticing a peculiar detail on the arrow, the owner promptly alerted the authorities.
Cosmo holds a special place in the Redick family, partaking in numerous adventures with them.
One fateful day, Christine, Cosmo’s owner, received distressing news – Cosmo, severely injured, was on her property.
“Returning from work, she found my dog with an arrow lodged in his chest,” Christine shared with News 5 Cleveland.
Injured but alert, Cosmo sat in the yard as Christine hurried to his side.
Christine rushed Cosmo to the hospital, where a difficult decision awaited her. The choice was between euthanasia or a critical surgery. Opting for the latter, Christine and her family watched as the successful operation unfolded.
An X-ray revealed a narrow miss of Cosmo’s heart and lungs by a few centimeters. It is anticipated that the golden labrador will fully recover from the harrowing incident.
A Telltale Sign on the Arrow
The perpetrator behind the dog’s ordeal remained unknown until a crucial lead surfaced.
Etched on the arrow was a name – that of a 16-year-old neighbor boy.
Upon questioning, the teenager confessed to targeting the dog, claiming it was an error in judgment as he mistook Cosmo for a coyote he intended to scare away.
Irrespective of the teenager’s explanation, the focus remains on Cosmo’s promising recovery. Hopefully, he will put this distressing incident behind him and embrace a joyous and pain-free existence as he rightfully deserves.
