Street dogs and cats are abundant, all seeking warmth and love in a caring home. For some, the search for a suitable home can last months or even years.
However, the situation worsens when pets are abandoned by their owners.
Let’s delve into the heartwarming tale of two inseparable companions β a blind dog and a guiding cat.
Throughout their lives, this unique duo, Spike and Max, have been inseparable. Spike, the blind dog, relies on Max, the cat, to navigate the world.
As per Global News Canada, both Spike and Max are 8 years old and were united at the Saving Grace shelter in Alberta, Canada, after their previous owners could no longer care for them.
The shelter quickly recognized the strong bond between the two animals.
“It’s just adorable,” expressed Erin Deems to Global News Canada. “They are always cuddling each other.”
Erin further added, “The cat is constantly assisting him, they stick together, do everything together, and even nap side by side.”
The shelter staff made it their mission to find a forever home where both Spike and Max could stay together. It would be unimaginable for them to be separated now.
According to the shelter, Spike and Max are yet to undergo a vet check-up but will soon be available for adoption as a pair.
However, the shelter acknowledges that finding a suitable home for them might take time.
“Hopefully, there are compassionate souls out there willing to adopt both of them,” Erin mentioned to Global News. “While it can be challenging for some to care for one pet, there are always kind-hearted individuals who are eager to provide love and care for older animals.”
The shelter plans to facilitate the adoption process by requiring payment for Spike only, with Max included as a “bonus.”
Let’s hope these wonderful companions soon find a loving forever home!
