Life Saver: 27-Year-Old Nurse Donates Kidney to Terminal Boy

It can happen to all of us. Namely, that at a certain point we may need an organ transplant. It can happen not only to us, but also to your mother, daughter, anyone.

The Method to Get Rid of Lice Quickly and Cheaply:

For some, an organ transplant is crucial to continue living. Fortunately, there are good people willing to donate.

But how many young and healthy people are willing to donate an organ to a stranger? That question turned the stomach of the young mother of Bodie Hall.

Her son Bodie Hall was born with defects in his kidneys. His diagnosis left him in a life-threatening state where his body was releasing too many proteins in his urine.

Eventually, this caused Bodie to develop kidney failure. This was reported by the children’s hospital M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic.

Would die without a donor

In 2020, when Bodie was one year old, doctors said he would not have a chance at a normal childhood unless he had a couple of functioning kidneys in his body, as reported by Good Morning America.

By this time, Bodie had been struggling with his issues since he came out of his mother’s womb.

The Hall family faced two challenges. One was finding a donor who matched their one-year-old child, and the other was finding a donor willing to donate their healthy kidney to a stranger.

And then came another setback: the pandemic. When several surgeries were canceled due to the acute infection, Bodie’s parents were panicked.

“The hospital shut down almost any surgeries they didn’t deem urgent. For us, who were worried about Bodie and his health, that was frustrating. But at the same time, no one knew at that point how the whole situation would unfold,” the mother of the boy told Good Morning America.

27-year-old nurse was a volunteer

But then Taylor Pikkarainen showed up. Taylor is a 27-year-old nurse who had heard about the boy’s situation through her sister.

Taylor, who is young, perfectly healthy, and in good health, didn’t think twice.

She contacted the Hall family to let them know she wanted to donate her kidney to their young son.

Due to the pandemic, the surgery was postponed, but in July it finally happened.

The removal of Taylor’s one kidney went well, as did the operation to give the one-year-old Bodie a new kidney.

Not long after the successful surgery, the boy took his first steps. It was a moment the family will never forget.

Saving the boy’s life

Nurse Taylor has been praised by both family and the media. But for her, saving the little boy, who turns two in December, was a no-brainer.

“Bodie & Taylor’s story was shared nationally! The main reason we wanted to share our story was hopefully to inspire other living people to consider kidney donation,”

Taylor is an incredible, selfless woman who saved Bodie’s life by donating her kidney,” the family writes.

It is people like Taylor that we hope are there when we or our loved ones get sick.

Please share to pay tribute to this amazing nurse, she is a true hero.
