It is always very shocking to read about parents neglecting and abusing their children. This story is both disturbing and touching.
This story takes place in western India, where a two-week-old baby was abandoned by her parents – because of a rare skin disease. They stopped feeding her and slowly starved the child. That’s when her grandfather did something very important.
The little girl was born in the 24th week of pregnancy. Although she was very premature, she survived the birth. But her parents didn’t want to keep the baby – because of her skin.
The girl had a very wrinkled skin caused by a chromosomal abnormality. According to the girl’s grandfather, Dilip Dode, the parents were so ashamed that they chose to dump her – only two weeks old.
People in the neighborhood reacted strangely when they saw the baby. In fact, many people said terrible things about the little girl.
Stopped feeding her
For the parents Mamata and Ajay Dode, it became too much. They couldn’t handle the fact that their daughter looked different. So they did the unthinkable – they stopped feeding her. Her life was put in great danger.
Her grandfather Dilip tried to talk the parents out of it over and over again, but without success.
“It’s not her fault that she’s different and I won’t abandon her because of this disease. It’s really discouraging that even her parents rejected her, but I will do everything to save her,” he told Liftable.
Dilip decided to do the only right thing. He fed his granddaughter goat’s milk until she got stronger. Then he took her to the hospital, where he watched over her day and night. He is now doing everything to ensure she becomes healthy and strong.
The hospital even offered to pay for her treatment costs.
“We are determined to treat the baby, we will keep her in the hospital for a long time,” said the CEO of the hospital.
It’s a good thing this little girl had her grandfather by her side. But unfortunately, these kinds of things still happen all over the world, and it usually doesn’t have a happy ending.
This just should not happen, no matter the circumstances. Share this article on Facebook if you agree.
