A father in China has been arrested by the police and accused of throwing his newborn daughter into a trash container.
Just two hours after the birth of his daughter, a surveillance camera captured the unimaginable.
The father left the child among the garbage – because she was “too sick.”
This gruesome event took place in Xuanwei, Southwest China. The suspect had only been the father of the little baby for two days when the surveillance camera caught him in the act.
Disposed in the trash
The video footage shows the man with a paper bag, which he then throws into the container.
Left to die
He then calmly walks away.
In the paper bag was his newborn daughter, left to die among the garbage.
Rescue
Fortunately, an elderly woman passed by shortly after and rescued the poor child. The girl was cold, but otherwise alive and well.
To prison
Thanks to the cameras, the police were able to track down and arrest the father.
When questioned by the police, he told them that the mother thought the girl was “incurable” after apparently turning a “purplish-green” hue shortly after birth. The child was born in the couple’s living room and the mother had not undergone any medical check-ups throughout her entire pregnancy, reports Yunnan Daily.
The father now faces a long prison sentence, and the mother has been released on bail, according to Yahoo News.
The little girl is said to be in good condition and has been handed over to social authorities in China.
