In Detroit, a woman came across a shivering dog in her neighbor’s yard on a cold snowy day a few weeks ago.
She was shocked that the owner had left the poor dog out in such freezing weather.
Without hesitation, she decided to take action. Little did she anticipate the response from her neighbor.
The woman opted to contact a local animal rescue group instead of directly addressing the neighbor.
Theresa Sumpter from Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue received the distress call and rushed to the location.
The dog had endured a harsh night outside, struggling to deal with the cold. It kept lifting its paws to shield them from the frozen ground.
The rescue team approached the owner and explained that leaving the dog outside in such conditions amounted to animal cruelty, especially when the temperature was below freezing at night. They requested permission to take the dog into their care.
Unfortunately, the owner was unresponsive. Instead, they shut the door on the rescuers and waited for them to leave.
Thankfully, with some persuasion from the neighbor who had made the call to the organization, the owner eventually agreed to surrender the dog.
The dog was relieved to be out of the freezing snow, although its paws were swollen and it was hypothermic from the ordeal outside. Despite this, the dog was safe.
After a night at the vet, the dog was ready to go to its new foster home. It now goes by the name Blizzard.
Blizzard is thriving in her new environment, surrounded by new friends in her foster home and never again exposed to the cold winter nights outside.
A big thank you to the caring neighbor who stepped in and helped Blizzard find a new loving home!
