As per the original post dating back to 2013, four-year-old Meredith expressed her desire to send a letter to God along with a photo of her cherished dog, ensuring He would recognize Abbey upon her heavenly arrival.
This heartwarming narrative has since been circulated over 170,000 times.
“Dear God, will you take care of my dog?”
“I hope you will play with her. She loves swimming and playing with balls.”
Letter Sent to “Heaven” Arrives in the Mailbox
A few days following Meredith’s mother posting the heartfelt letter, the family discovered a package wrapped in golden paper on their porch. Opening it, they were met with an incredible sight.
Within the package was a book entitled “When a Pet Dies” by Mr. Rogers, along with a letter tucked inside the cover:
“Abbey arrived safely in heaven. The photo was a big help, and I recognized her right away.”
“Abbey is no longer in pain. Her spirit is lively and will always reside in your heart. Abbey found joy in being your dog.”

“Thank you for the lovely letter, and please extend my gratitude to your mother for her assistance in composing and sending it to me. You have a wonderful mother. I chose her especially for you.”
