Alain Delon: the beginning
The star was born on November 8, 1935, in Sceaux, France. Following his parents’ separation, he was placed in foster care by his mother.
He later attended various schools before opting to join the French navy and serving in Indochina.
Upon returning to France, he worked in diverse roles such as a doorman, clerk, and waiter before relocating to Rome.

Some of his early successful films include Fatti bella e taci (1958) with Jean Paul Belmondo, L’amante pura, where he met Romy Schneider, and Delitto in pieno sole (1960) that garnered significant public interest.

International success
A pivotal moment in his career came with Luchino Visconti casting him as the lead in Rocco e i suoi fratelli, propelling Delon to international stardom. This led to collaborations with renowned Italian directors like Michelangelo Antonioni in L’eclisse (1961) alongside Monica Vitti, winning the Cannes Film Festival jury prize.
In 1963, his role in Visconti’s Il Gattopardo opposite Burt Lancaster and Claudia Cardinale further solidified his global fame.

While attempting to conquer Hollywood in the 1960s, Delon’s breakthrough came with portraying hitman Frank Costello in Frank Costello faccia d’Angelo (1967), a character that would influence tough and charismatic personas for years to come.
Throughout the 1970s, he continued to excel in crime/noir films like Il clan dei siciliani, Borsalino, and Senza Nome. His involvement in Zorro helped introduce European cinema to audiences in China, Japan, and Latin America.

In 1964, he wed actress Nathalie Delon, and they had a son, Anthony, before parting ways in 1969.

Subsequently, Delon had relationships with actresses Mireille Darc and Anne Parillaud. In the 1980s, he began a lengthy partnership with Dutch model Rosalie van Breemen, resulting in two children: Anouchka Delon (1990) and Alain-Fabien Delon (1994).
