Shocking Discovery: Harmful Effects of Simple Energy Drinks Revealed by Scientists!

We have previously reported on the harmful effects of energy drinks when consumed in large quantities. But did you know that even drinking one such drink can be harmful?

If you have read about this study, you will probably think twice before consuming more energy drinks.

You, like me, have probably had moments when you needed an energy boost and therefore drank an energy drink. Maybe you drink a few before work, the gym, or when going out? If so, you know they can help to some extent. But once you know the negative sides, I’m not sure if you will still want to consume them.

In 2015, JAMA Today published the results of a study that also appeared on Live Science. In the study, doctors examined 25 healthy adults to check certain things like heart rate and blood pressure. Then, the participants drank 480 milliliters from an energy drink containing taurine, caffeine, and other additives. Finally, the doctors re-examined the participants, and the results were shocking.

Here is what happened:

  • The participants’ blood pressure soared
  • Their heart rate increased
  • The heart rate of some participants was irregular
  • The levels of noradrenaline in the blood of some participants increased (noradrenaline is a natural hormone that raises blood pressure.)

Each of the above effects can lead to heart failure, and they all result from just 1 can of the popular drink.

People who frequently consume energy drinks are at a greater risk than others of suffering from heart-related diseases.

And we haven’t even talked about the amount of sugar in such energy drinks.
