Wake Up Call: Teen Nickolas Injured in Sleep, Family Warns of Deadly New Prank

Fifteen-year-old Nickolas woke up in the middle of the night feeling like his neck was on fire.

He was on fire. As it quickly turned out, his friends had played a shocking new prank on him.

“I just want them to leave me alone. They’re not my friends anymore and they’re not going to be again,” he says.

Now people are warning others about this deadly trend that is spreading quickly on the internet.

It’s called the “boiling water challenge” or the “Hot Water Challenge” and involves pouring boiling water on people who don’t expect it.

Fifteen-year-old Nickolas Conrad from Arkansas was a victim of this bizarre new trend.

Nickolas had fallen asleep at night and his friends snuck out and boiled some water in a microwave. It was boiling hot and they poured it on him.

“I felt a really bad burning in my neck and when I woke up I started screaming and crying. It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life,” said Nickolas, according to The Sun.

But that wasn’t the only time Nickolas’ “friends” injured him. They also burned him with a cigarette lighter.

“I just want them to leave me alone. They’re not my friends anymore and they’re not going to be again,” says Nickolas.

Nickolas is not the only young person who has been injured by this bizarre new trend. In August, an eleven-year-old girl, Jamoneisha Merritt, got her face burned when her friends threw boiling hot water at her.

An eight-year-old girl from Florida died after another version of the “Hot Water Challenge.” This little girl’s cousins challenged her to drink boiling hot water through a straw. She did it and a few months later she was dead.

Now the girl’s aunt, Diane Johnson, is trying to raise awareness about this issue.

“Parents, talk to your kids about these challenges. Don’t just give them your phone without paying attention. See what they’re doing,” Diane tells CBS12.

This needs to stop immediately. Please share this article so more parents can explain to their children how dangerous this is.
