Over the past weekend in Long Island, New York, a goose was discovered with firecrackers attached to its chest.
Activists are now appealing for assistance in identifying the individual responsible.
Last weekend, activists from the animal organization PETA were alerted to a distress call concerning a goose with firecrackers fastened around its neck. This was reported by Long Island News.
Members of the organization promptly responded to the incident and initiated a rescue mission.
John Di Leonardo, the director of PETA, the animal rights group involved, commended the goose for saving its own life.
βAt the critical moment when one of the firecrackers was primed to detonate, the goose leaped into the water and extinguished the explosive before it could go off. It was a life-threatening scenario, and thankfully, she survived,β he informed Long Island News.
βResilient Birdβ
It is evident that the bird put up a fight against the assailant while the firecrackers were being affixed to its abdomen.
βThese are incredibly resilient birds. Without the necessary expertise, both the person and the bird could have been seriously injured,β stated Rogers.
The goose was promptly taken to a veterinarian for treatment of its injuries. However, on the following Friday night, the animal returned to the exact spot where it was discovered.
Presently, the organizations PETA, LION, and SPCA are urging individuals in the vicinity to come forward with any pertinent information regarding the incident. A reward of $5000 is being offered to anyone providing valuable information.
Such actions are unfathomable. How could someone perpetrate such cruelty on an innocent animal? Hopefully, the responsible party will be swiftly brought to justice.
