A few weeks ago, a mother posted a photo online showing her baby with what seemed like a cheek piercing. However, the image was actually edited using Photoshop, and her intention was to raise awareness about circumcision in young children.
Following this, there was a rapid influx of comments and opinions from both supporters and opponents of piercing babies. Many people found the photo believable, partly due to a video that surfaced the previous year.
The video depicted a mother getting ear piercings for her four-month-old daughter. Initially, the baby appeared calm and content, but as the piercing gun approached her ear, she became anxious. The moment the piercing was done, the baby cried out in distress.
The necessity for children of that age to wear earrings remains puzzling. Shouldn’t we allow children to make decisions about piercings when they are older?
