The 29-year-old Katherine Caraway was shopping at Walmart in Oklahoma. While shopping, she also visited the store’s restroom.
However, Katherine never returned from the restroom. Shockingly, the 29-year-old woman was discovered deceased, 3 days after she entered.
Katherine was found lifeless in the restroom on Monday, as reported by Fox 23. Although it remains unknown how long she had been deceased, security footage shows her entering the restroom three days earlier.
The door remained locked on Friday night, leading employees to place an “out of order” sign on the door.
It wasn’t until Monday when cleaning staff went to attend to the restrooms that they discovered the woman, who had evidently passed away some time ago.
Responding to the incident, Walmart issued the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened by this news. At this time, we do not know all the facts, but we are working closely with law enforcement to facilitate the investigation. As this is an ongoing investigation, we refer you to the police for further information.”
According to the police, it seems that the woman did not die due to violence, and the cause of her death remains unclear.
This tragic event has evoked strong reactions.
“This is my best friend, we miss her terribly and have been trying to reach her since Thursday night! She was absolutely a wonderful person, a great mother, and best friend.” This heartfelt comment was posted on Fox23 News‘s Facebook post.
Such a tragic incident! Implementing a standard procedure to check all restrooms before locking the store doors could prevent such tragedies. It’s unfortunate that Katherine’s fate remains unknown, but timely discovery might have saved her life!
Rest in peace.
