Teacher’s Genius Trick Gets Kids Washing Their Hands

The concern about the coronavirus is significant. We are daily reminded to wash our hands frequently and thoroughly. It remains the most effective way to keep viruses at bay.

If you display flu symptoms, isolating yourself is a must. However, those who are still healthy need to prioritize hand hygiene.

For adults, it is natural for us to wash our hands well because we understand the dangers of virus spread, especially with the constant news on the internet, television, and social media. But children may not always grasp this situation, and in school, they are constantly exposed to viruses and bacteria. While this exposure can strengthen their immune systems, efforts must still be made to prevent illness.

In some countries, schools are still open. It is a big responsibility for teachers to remind their students to wash their hands. And that’s not always easy.

But now, a resourceful teacher has come up with a clever trick to make students realize the importance of handwashing. A trick they won’t soon forget.

Shauna Woods teaches 6 and 7-year-olds and came up with the idea of stamping her students’ hands with her teacher stamp. The students who had completely washed off the stamp by the end of the day would receive a reward.

Keep the bacteria at bay

“In our classroom, we do our best to keep the bacteria out. Students get a stamp on their hands in the morning. If the stamp is gone by the end of the day from washing their hands, they get a prize. 😊 We’re doing our best,” teacher Shauna tells in a Facebook post.

Even though there is enough soap and hand sanitizer at school, teacher Shauna had to find a way to encourage her students.

“It is a fact that children sit huddled together in school, touch each other, and therefore spread a lot of bacteria,” Shauna told Good Morning America.

Shauna, who has been teaching for eight years, says regular handwashing started to become a habit for her students and giving out a prize really helps.

“I even joined in, stamping myself to set an example,” she says.

What a great idea from this teacher. Parents can use the same trick at home.
