Kevin Huntington, a construction worker in Virginia, had a surprising encounter while on duty that led to him saving a life.
Little did he know that he would end up rescuing an 18-year-old girl.
It was in July 2015 when Kevin noticed a car speeding dangerously towards the construction zone where he was working. Initially unfazed by speeding drivers, the situation quickly escalated into an unforgettable moment for him.
What seemed like an ordinary speeding driver turned out to be an abductor fleeing from the law.
To Kevin’s surprise, a frightened young woman leaped out of the car and ran toward him, visibly distressed. She implored him for assistance and to call the authorities. The chilling revelation she shared with Kevin left him shaken.
Reflecting on the encounter, Kevin shared with CBS 6 News, “"I asked the woman if she was okay, and she said no and that a man was trying to kill her. I told her to stay behind me and that I wouldn’t let anything happen to her."
Kevin provided comfort to the young woman, ensured her safety, and stayed by her side until law enforcement arrived.
The police were already in pursuit of the abductor, and Kevin played a pivotal role in leading them to apprehend the culprit.
Shortly after Kevin’s call to the police, they caught the suspect, Aaron Berg, on the spot. Berg was convicted of abduction, strangulation, and sexual assault against the 18-year-old girl, as reported by CBS 6 News.
Currently incarcerated, Aaron Berg’s arrest brought safety and relief to the young woman, thanks to Kevin’s swift actions and the police. Kevin emphasized to CBS 6 News that he had a simple message regarding the incident:
"Pick up the phone and help someone, you never know whose life you might save."
Kevin’s heroic act serves as a poignant reminder that our responses in emergencies can truly be life-saving.
If you believe Kevin is a hero, feel free to share this story.
