Seeing a dog in distress is always heartbreaking. How could anyone be cruel to such a helpless creature?
In Lanus, near Buenos Aires, Argentina, two men came across a dog covered in sticky oil, abandoned in a hole.
They discovered that the dog, later named Petróleo, had been drenched in oil and left to suffer.

The men acted swiftly, taking Petróleo to a nearby police station and then to a veterinary clinic, and finally to a group called Zoonosis Lanus.
Despite attempts to clean the dog, the oil clung stubbornly, as reported by cnnespanol.cnn.com.
After exhausting all efforts, a method found online suggested using a different type of oil to dissolve the tar and scraping it off with a spatula.
It took five liters of oil and five hours of meticulous work to remove the sticky residue from Petróleo, revealing his fur again.

Although not entirely free of tar spots, Petróleo now looks remarkably better and is in search of a caring forever home.
Acts of animal cruelty must end. Be their voice. If you witness animal abuse, take a stand.
