Abandoned and Emaciated: A Puppy’s Rescue Leads to Justice

The amount of animals being abandoned because they are no longer considered ‘easy’ to look after is truly disturbing. Many pets are callously discarded, as if they are disposable creatures.

Despite the efforts of animal organizations to assist these animals, they are unable to reach all of them due to the overwhelming number of heartless pet owners.

In Pennsylvania, a dog endured a horrific ordeal when he was callously discarded in the trash like an old piece of garbage, by his own owner.

‘Animals should be treated with as much respect as humans’

The 9-month-old dog was found three days later by a waste collector named Nathan Binnie. He was deeply disturbed by what he encountered.

“You could see every bone, he was shaking and trembling,” Nathan recounted to WTAE.

“Animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. They breathe and live just like us.”

While waiting for an organization to collect the dog, Nathan provided whatever he had with him to help the suffering animal.

Workers from the Humane Society found that the dog had a microchip, enabling them to locate the owner.

The emaciated dog was originally named Mia but was later renamed Fawna due to her light-colored fur. After an investigation, they managed to identify the owner, a woman who had moved to Texas with her boyfriend.

It appears that the beautiful and affectionate dog no longer fit into the woman’s plans, prompting her to heartlessly dump her loyal dog in the trash, leaving her suffering and starving.

A woman threw this dog in the trash so she could follow her boyfriend to Texas. According to the story, a trash collector…

Fawna weighed a mere 8 kilograms when she was discovered, just skin and bones. With the help of her rescuers, she managed to gain some weight back within a week.

Verdict

Authorities suspect that Fawna had been deprived of food for 6 weeks before being abandoned. She also had a wound on her thigh from which an abscess had developed and needed to be treated, as reported by Trib Live.

Nicole Baker was found guilty of neglecting her pet. She agreed to undergo a form of rehabilitation program for her act of animal cruelty and was required to pay a fine of $600, according to WTAE.

Fortunately, Fawna eventually found the loving home she deserved. Megan Fritz, a veterinary assistant, decided to adopt the dog after assisting in her care.

Inspirational Journey

Megan, who already owned a large Great Dane, aimed to train Fawna to become a therapy dog.

“I find her story incredibly inspiring,” Megan shared.

No animal should ever endure what Fawna went through. Hopefully, this woman will never have the opportunity to mistreat another animal. What a cruel act.
