There’s something truly special about a children’s farm that brings joy to all, not just kids but adults too. The sight of adorable animals never fails to bring smiles to faces, whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or anyone in between.
Heart for animals
We all know that a children’s farm relies on dedicated caretakers who have a genuine love for the animals under their care. However, sometimes there are lapses in this care, as was sadly demonstrated recently.
Abandoned
The Flappus animal foundation in Zwolle shared a heartbreaking story on Facebook about a children’s farm near Zwolle that had been abandoned by its caretakers.
The animals were left unattended until concerned neighbors stepped in to provide initial care and reached out to the foundation for help.
The living conditions the animals endured were horrific: knee-deep in mud, with some so ill that they had to be euthanized by a vet.
Neighbors cover costs
Caring for numerous rabbits and birds comes with significant expenses, which compassionate neighbors have generously united to cover.
The foundation acknowledged the local community’s support and mentioned that transporting the animals will be done in stages due to their numbers. Approximately 45 rabbits will be relocated to Flappus’ shelter, along with the aviary birds and doves, in the hope of finding them better homes.
The foundation emphasized the need to prevent such tragedies from happening again and expressed gratitude to the neighbors and rescuers for saving the animals.
