An abandoned dog is always a heart-wrenching sight: recently, an 8-month-old puppy was found alone in the woods, left behind with all his belongings and waiting for someone to come give him love.
Fortunately, that poor dog is now in good hands. He was taken in by a rescue organization and is now looking for a new home.
The dog, now known as Hank, was found in the woods by a kind Samaritan. He sat quietly, surrounded by his old toys, a dog bed, and a bag of food. It was clear that someone had left him there.
According to a post on Facebook, Hank also had a broken leg that had been broken for at least two weeks.

He spent about two weeks alone in the woods and was very thin.
Hank was taken in by Humans and Animals United, a non-profit animal rescue organization in Florida. There they prepared him for surgery to repair his broken leg.
“Hank is in good shape and the staff loves him,” Humans and Animals United wrote on Facebook.
After going through so much, it was clear that Hank was grateful to finally be in good hands.
“His tail started wagging once he knew he was being taken to the animal hospital. We can’t imagine why someone would dump him with a broken leg,” they wrote.
Fortunately, things are looking up for Hank now, despite the hardships he has endured in his short life.
Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, told The Dodo that adoption requests for Hank are pouring in. He still needs some time to recover, but he will soon have a home.
“He has a little way to go before he can be definitively adopted,” she told The Dodo. “But he is safe now and will never be injured again.”
It’s heartbreaking what this dog has been through, but we are so glad that Hank is now in good hands, on the road to recovery. We hope he gets a wonderful new home soon.❤️
