Despite annual warnings, there are still individuals who disregard them. Over the weekend, a helpless dog was discovered trapped in a sweltering car.
“Incomprehensible”
Expressing their disbelief, the local police officers of Horst Zuid took to Instagram, stating, “Incomprehensible that people still lock up their pets in a car in this weather.”
The vehicle was located near the Toverland amusement park with the owners’ activities remaining unknown. Fortunately, the windows were slightly ajar, allowing the officers to access the car and rescue the distressed dog.
Legal action was taken against the owners.
Temperature Soars Above 40 Degrees Quickly
Using this unfortunate incident as a platform, the local police officers once again stressed the peril of leaving a dog in a car during hot weather. Dogs struggle to cool down as they can only release heat through their paws and tongues, leading to rapid overheating. For instance, if it’s 30 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can reach 40 degrees within just ten minutes, and after half an hour, it can escalate to a scorching 48 degrees!
Hence, it poses an extreme risk to the animal.
Such a heartbreaking occurrence! It’s truly distressing that such negligence still occurs. Thankfully, the dog was saved in time. A big thumbs up to the diligent neighborhood police officers!
