It was an ordinary day for Cayla Wilson as she embarked on her drive.
At the time, she was five weeks pregnant and heading to a job interview in the hopes of securing a cleaning position.
Tragically, on that April day in 2010, her life took a devastating turn.

Unbeknownst to Cayla, a man named Jack Whiteaker was also on the road that day. However, he was driving while under the influence of amphetamines and on the wrong side of the road.
Cayla had no chance to react as the man’s vehicle, a large jeep, collided head-on with hers.
The aftermath of the crash showcased the magnitude of the impact, leaving Cayla’s car severely damaged.
Upon the arrival of emergency responders, Cayla was found unconscious. She was swiftly transported to the hospital, where medical professionals deemed her chances of survival to be extremely slim.
Locked in a Vegetative State
Despite the grim prognosis, a miracle occurred, allowing the 19-year-old to cling to life.
Regrettably, Cayla remained in a vegetative state, unable to engage or move.

Physicians informed her family that this state was likely to be permanent, with little hope of Cayla ever awakening.
Five weeks later, her baby girl, JaiKyle, was delivered via C-section. Unfortunately, the infant faced significant challenges stemming from the crash-induced brain injuries.
