Beware: Woman Issues Warning After Dog Dies from Eating Berries in Garden

Losing a loved one is an unbearable pain.

Chloe Allen, a resident of England, recently bid farewell to her beloved companion, Lola, a Golden Retriever.

Following the sudden loss of her loyal friend, the woman issues a cautionary tale, as reported by The Mirror.

When our furry friends fall ill, our world can crumble, especially when the illness turns severe.

Lola, the Golden Retriever, held a special place as a cherished member of Chloe’s family.

Like many dogs, Lola had a curious nature when it came to exploring different tastes.

However, this curiosity led to a tragic outcome.

Dangerous Berries Found in the Garden

Spotting berries on a plant in the garden, Lola decided to sample them.

The berries she ingested were identified as Arum Macalatum, commonly known as ‘spotted arum lily’.

Moments later, Lola suffered a brain hemorrhage, and her condition rapidly deteriorated.

Witnessing her dog’s severe illness was heartbreaking for Chloe.

Unfortunately, the ordeal did not end there.

A Decline in Health and Weight Loss

The brain hemorrhages persisted, and Lola’s health was severely impacted by the toxic berries, rendering her unable to eat.

Consequently, she began losing weight rapidly, growing thinner by the day.

Adding to the ordeal, Lola’s body reacted by producing excess stomach acid to counter the poisonous berries, resulting in her tongue getting “burned,” as detailed by The Mirror.

Despite exhaustive vet visits and treatment efforts, Lola fought for survival for six agonizing months.

Please please please everyone pray for my Lola. She has had 3 seizures and is not doing good. She has been sedated after 3 attempts?

Chloe now aims to caution other dog owners to prevent such a tragedy from recurring.

“We collaborated closely with our incredible veterinarian, John, trying various medications. While some showed promise, Lola’s condition kept relapsing. Lola spent four weeks at the vet’s office. Despite our efforts, consultations with specialists, her condition deteriorated irreversibly,” she shared on Facebook.

“We believed it was best to let her go. She had endured enough,” Chloe expressed.

“Be cautious of these berries. Many have reached out, finding them in their gardens. Remove them promptly to spare your dog the suffering Lola endured. Lola’s absence has left a void in our lives. It’s astounding how much damage a single berry can cause.”

Hundreds of thousands shared her Facebook post, with over 13,000 offering their condolences.
