However, for animals like a devoted pair who are inseparable, finding a new home can be challenging as they are bonded and prefer to stay together.

Having spent their entire lives together, the dog named Spike and the cat named Max, both 8 years old, were surrendered to a shelter as their previous owners could no longer meet their needs, as reported by Global News Canada.
The shelter welcomed the duo, recognizing their close friendship and the cat’s guiding role for the blind dog.
“It’s just adorable,” said director Erin Deems to Global News Canada. “Upon their arrival, they immediately sought out a cozy spot to snuggle.”
“The cat led him to that spot. They stick together, do everything as a pair, and even nap side by side,” she added.
Understanding the unique bond, the shelter is determined to find a home that will welcome both pets together. It would be heartbreaking for the blind dog to be separated from his loyal companion.
Spike and Max are awaiting a thorough health check by a veterinarian but have already been listed for adoption as a bonded pair.
“There must be someone out there willing to take on the responsibility of adopting both pets, though it presents a challenge,” Erin shared with Global News. “While many people may find adopting one pet daunting, there are always kind-hearted individuals willing to provide care for older animals.”
To facilitate the adoption process, the shelter plans to set an adoption fee for Spike with Max considered an added “bonus.”
