Kai’s story is heartbreaking. He was dumped in a suitcase by his owner.
The person who found the suitcase burst into tears. But thankfully, Kai’s story has a beautiful ending.
Nobody really knows how badly Kai was treated by his owner. But everyone saw how the dog was tied to a suitcase at a train station somewhere in Scotland. The owner had tried to sell his dog but without success.
For hours, Kai sat next to the suitcase, with a sad look, hoping his owner would return or that someone else would notice him.
But what the dog didn’t know at that moment was that the owner would never return.
Abandoned dog on platform
Eventually, a traveler noticed the dog at the station. The man had been hanging around the station for a while and realized something was not right with Kai. He decided to call animal services, who quickly arrived on the scene.
They took Kai to a safe place where they showered him with love and affection. But it was when they opened the suitcase that they understood the sad story.
In the suitcase were a pillow, toys, a bowl, and dog food. It was clear that the owner wanted to permanently give away his dog.
They were able to trace Kai’s owner through a chip in his collar. But the owner claimed to have sold his dog years ago, yet he could not provide a sales receipt.
Left to fate
It turned out that his new owner had also tried to sell Kai. The man had met a potential buyer at the station, but when this woman lost interest (she found the dog’s photo more appealing than the actual dog), his owner decided to just leave the dog behind. Heartless.
Anyway, Kai was now in good hands with real animal heroes who gave him a roof over his head and a safe place to sleep.
After some tests, it became clear that he needed urgent medical attention, especially for his eyes. His eyelids had grown inward, and if he wasn’t operated on soon, he would go blind.
The operation cost 920 euros, and the organization, which operates entirely on a voluntary basis, didn’t know how they would pay for it.
People donated money
They truly wanted to help the poor dog. And fortunately, they were not alone.
The story of the lovely dog quickly spread all over the internet, and people made numerous donations. As planned, Kai’s eyes could be saved.
The next step was to find a new, loving home for Kai, which didn’t take long.
A Home Filled with Love
Over 100 people had heard his story, so there was a lot of interest.
Eventually, Ian Russel decided to adopt the dog. A middle-aged man whose dog had just passed away after a long and happy life. Kai and Ian were a perfect match. They needed each other, gave each other a lot of love.
“We are together almost all day,” Ian tells STV News.
Together with Ian, Kai often goes on day trips in the beautiful Scottish highlands and mountains.
Beautiful Ending for Kai
It was the perfect solution for the kind dog. From here on out, it could only get better after the terribly anxious hours at the train station.
