Brave 11-Year-Old’s Note to Teacher Sparks Police Call

Being a victim of a serious crime can have significant consequences later in life. It can lead to fear, uncertainty, and, in the worst cases, psychological problems for the involved person if they do not receive the necessary help.

That is why it is so sad when it happens; because it has long-lasting effects. A particularly disturbing case that is now making headlines is that of a woman from Louisiana, USA, and her 11-year-old daughter, both of whom have been exposed to abuse…

The woman’s boyfriend had both the mother and daughter in captivity, with the mother so afraid of him that she did not dare to contact the police, according to CNN.

Fortunately, the daughter was still allowed to go to school, and so the mother came up with a plan to try and save them both.

She wrote a message on a note and told her daughter to take it to school with her.

When the girl went to school, she did as she was instructed and handed the note to the teacher. The teacher then immediately went to the police and alerted authorities to the issue.

When officers visited the caravan where the mother was being held captive, no one answered the door. They were forced to drive away and leave the scene.

Next attempt to intervene
However, shortly after, a court gave police a warrant to enter the property. They stormed the caravan quickly, placed the boyfriend under arrest, and freed the mother and her daughter.

Neither of them suffered physical harm, but the mental anguish they endured is likely to linger with them for the rest of their lives.

“It is alarming when a student shows up with a note asking for help,” said officer Jeffrey after the arrest.

The culprit, Donald Ray Guy, was already known to the police and was placed in custody pending his trial.

Thanks to the 11-year-old girl who dared to take the note to school – and her mother for writing it in the first place – everything turned out alright.

We can only hope that, despite the challenges they have faced, the mother and daughter will not be too severely affected in the future.
