Brave Firefighters Rescue Missing Dog Trapped for 5 Days Between Concrete Walls

Sometimes animals get stuck in challenging situations and require human assistance to escape. This was the scenario recently when a dog was trapped for five days between a concrete wall – until firefighters intervened to rescue her.

Connie Frick and Lynn Herman, from Cincinnati, own a terrier mix named Gertie. They described their dog as a bit of an “escape artist” who has a tendency to wander off from home.

When Gertie ran into the woods after escaping through the door last week, her owners, becoming increasingly concerned as she didn’t return, posted missing dog signs around the neighborhood, but days passed with no sign of Gertie.

Neighbor Vanessa Roland started hearing noises in her garage, which turned out to be the sound of an animal trapped in the walls.

A concerned neighbor contacted the police on Sunday, and upon investigation, they discovered that indeed an animal was trapped between the concrete walls – it was Gertie!

Cincinnati firefighters swiftly arrived on the scene and began the process of freeing the trapped dog.

A firefighter can be seen in a video posted by the department, using a sledgehammer to gradually chip away at the concrete wall until they could reach Gertie.

Gertie is eventually freed, and the firefighter helps her out to safety, ending her prolonged ordeal.

It is believed that Gertie became trapped in the wall after falling from Vanessa’s garage roof, where she remained stuck for about five days.

Despite the frightening experience, Gertie seemed to be in good health and happily reunited with her owners once she was freed.

“It was just so cute, wagging her little tail, and she was so, so excited,” owner Connie Frick shared with WXIX.

“We’re very happy and lucky and incredibly grateful for our neighbors.”

We are delighted that Gertie is now safe, all thanks to the dedicated efforts of these firefighters. Share this incredible story!
