Brave Woman’s Journey: The Cancer Selfie Story

Brave Woman’s Journey: The Cancer Selfie Story

Seven years ago, Kathryn became known when she posted a selfie with her bruised face after falling out of her wheelchair.

“Screw cancer” was written there. Her brave message went viral at the time.

Afterwards, Kathryn became an ambassador for Anthony Nolan Trust, an organization fighting against cancer. The organization supported Kathryn in her efforts to make cancer discussions more open.

“Endless Resilience”

“Kathryn was an remarkable person,” says Chiara DeBiase, one of the organization’s executives in a Facebook post.

“She never said ‘no’ to anything. Nothing was too much trouble or too difficult.”

“Kathryn always found a way to let her positivity shine, she had an endless resilience to help others.”

Kathryn desperately wanted to reach 30, and her heartbreaking and raw, honest posts quickly became a big inspiration for other patients.

“All I want is to hit 30 so I can put on a comedy benefit. That way I can raise money for the Anthony Nolan organization,” she told Birmingham Live.

“If that doesn’t happen, I still want to put on a comedy night. I’m sure the comedians will come through.”

The woman underwent a liver transplant and three bone marrow transplants. She documented her entire journey and emphasized the importance of stem cell transplants.

Her sudden death was announced on her website with a drawing and the words “I will live forever in one of the stars…”

She passed away from an overwhelming liver infection, reports The Mirror.

“As you may already know, Kathryn is seriously ill and has been in the hospital for weeks,” it read.

“Her liver infection has returned, but this time was untreatable. Kathryn passed away peacefully on January 18 in the presence of her family.”

This cruel disease can strike anyone, regardless of your age. Kathryn fought with great courage and strength against her illness, and has inspired many people.

Please share this to send strength and support to those around her. Rest in peace, brave Kathryn.
