Some heroes deserve to be celebrated for their incredible efforts.
One of them is undoubtedly James West from Alaska, USA.
One day, when James West was driving, he saw something very unusual.
He drove past a container and saw a large moose with something in its mouth.
Without thinking, he stopped to investigate what was going on.

He soon realized the situation was urgent.
“Choking.”
The moose had a plastic bag in its mouth and seemed desperate for help.
“He was stumbling around, chewing frantically and foaming at the mouth. When I got closer, I realized he was choking on the plastic bag,” James wrote on Facebook.
His first thought was to call for help, but James soon realized there wouldn’t be enough time.
If he didn’t act immediately, the moose would die.
Overcame his fear to help the animal
Then the man found the courage to approach the moose and do his best to avoid scaring it.
“I knew right away that I had to help. And quickly,” he told The Dodo.
But James knew he had to be very careful so as not to upset or frighten the moose.

“The speed and power of a moose are relentless. It only takes one kick to send someone to the hospital, if not kill them,” he told the site. “[But] after about 10 minutes of talking to him and slowly getting closer, he definitely understood that I wasn’t there to hurt him.”
Removed the bag
Soon he was close enough to grab and pull the plastic bag.
Luckily, James didn’t have to struggle for long, as the bag came out relatively easily.

But then something very unexpected happened.
The moose’s incredible gratitude
Instead of running away, the moose became very happy, playful, and affectionate. It showed immense appreciation.
“I would describe it as excited and playful behavior,” James told The Dodo. “There was actually a moment where I was afraid he would try to play with me and accidentally hurt me. Like a big, clumsy puppy.”

James stayed with the moose for over an hour. He fed the gentle giant and the moose was completely unafraid around his hero.

Eventually, James had to leave, but in hindsight, he was extremely pleased that all went well and grateful for making a new friend in the form of the moose.
“The gratitude I got from the moose was more than enough,” he told The Dodo.
Now we help tribute the incredibly brave hero who saved the moose’s life!
