Canine COVID Detectives: Sniffing Out Success with a 100% Accuracy Rate

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to paralyze the world. The search for a vaccine is in full swing.

Reports are emerging of specially trained dogs with the ability to detect COVID in the sweat of infected individuals.

A group of dogs has been specially trained to identify the coronavirus in the sweat of infected individuals, achieving a 100% success rate as reported by Radio Formula.

Research and training were conducted by Dominique Grandjean at the Alfort special animal school in France.

The dogs were trained for this specialized task using methods previously utilized to detect explosives and individuals with colon cancer.

Initial test results have shown a 100% success rate for the dogs. Although, in some instances, the success rate varied between 83% to 94% according to the radio channel.

The detection process involves using the sweat of infected individuals. A specialized device in the form of a steel funnel with a container is utilized to ensure no direct contact with the sweat test, as reported by La Octova.

Regular COVID-19 testing is conducted on the dogs, with no reported infections among them thus far.
