A man who owns a beautiful, loyal pitbull recently experienced a nightmare in broad daylight. When he looked out his window, he saw a man trying to steal his pitbull from his garden.
The man, living in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, quickly ran outside and confronted the unknown intruder who was at that moment trying to lift his dog by its collar over the fence.
Volunteer Marizanna Feirreira says the owner of the dog had adopted him a few months ago, even though he was sick. That was reported by TimesLive.
The owner, who wished to remain anonymous, even posted an ad online to make sure his original owner was not looking for him, but received no response.
News 24/YouTube“He took him to the vet and posted ads to maybe track down the original owner, but no one came to claim the dog,” Marizanne told TimesLive.
The owner was able to apprehend the man trying to steal his dog thanks to camera footage. He had to act quickly and ran outside to confront the stranger, asserting that this was his dog and he wanted him back.
When the situation escalated, the man tried to call the police, but as he did so, the intruder attempted to lift the dog over the fence.
Pitbulls a Target for Thieves
The owner did everything he could to save his dog by chasing away the thief. And eventually, that’s what he did.
“Pitbulls are stolen everywhere in this city. They are then chained up, abused, and used for breeding and fighting. My advice to pitbull owners is simple: invest in security around your home,” Marizanne said.
