Dad’s Innocent Hair Wash Turns Deadly: A Fight for Life in the ICU
Five years ago, Dave Tyler went to the hairdresser to have his hair washed and cut.
But nothing would be the same after that day.
Three days after his appointment at the hairdresser, Dave was on his way to a meeting when he lost feeling on the right side of his body and collapsed.
Dave was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was shocked to hear that he had suffered a stroke.
At 45 years old, Dave can no longer drive and has difficulty finding balance since the stroke.
Six years after the incident, he still struggles with complications and various medical conditions, as reported by The Mirror.

It all began in the hair salon.
When Dave tilted his head back to have his hair washed, a blood clot formed in his head.
Most people are familiar with the procedure – but this time, something went wrong.
A vein was damaged, leading to a blood clot that caused the stroke.
Now, Dave Tyler wants to warn others so that no one has to go through this, according to The Mirror.

The incident made headlines in Dave’s home country of England, and his warning has been shared by thousands online.
Dave sued the hairdresser and received nearly $113,000 in compensation from the well-known hairdressing company.
And it seems Dave is not the only one who has suffered from this issue, as British newspapers report.

Studies show that the most common position for hair washing in hair salons – with the neck bent far over the edge of the sink – can reduce blood flow to the brain, sometimes leading to a stroke in older individuals.
To prevent this potentially serious danger, doctors advise older people not to tilt their heads back more than 15 degrees, especially if they have neck joint issues or reduced blood flow to the brain.
According to Dave, such fatal accidents can also be prevented by using soft cushions and towels.
No one should have to go through what Dave experienced. But together, we can help prevent this from happening again in the future.
The next time you feel uncomfortable during a hair wash at the salon, remember that it could have significant, possibly fatal, consequences!
