Passers-by heard cries along the side of the street. When they looked closer, they saw a bag hanging on a wire and when they looked inside the bag, they couldn’t believe their eyes.
Recently, three small border collie puppies were discovered in a plastic bag in the Irish town of Donegal.
But that’s just the beginning.
Someone had dumped the puppies in a plastic bag and hung it on a wire. Authorities suspect that the responsible person had first tried to throw the bag into the river but failed, and the bag remained hanging on an iron wire,” tells Animal Rescue Site.
The people who found the bag of puppies immediately notified the local veterinary clinic, which arrived on the scene promptly.
The puppies were traumatized and in urgent need of help, food, and warmth.
“Luck”
The head of the veterinary clinic, Alexander Smyth, was one of the first to help rescue the puppies. He noticed that the plastic bag was torn, allowing the puppies to at least breathe.
Alexander finds it utterly appalling that people abandon helpless animals in the wild, while there are so many organizations that can care for animals.
“Abuse and unnecessary animal suffering are unacceptable, and we must encourage anyone with information about such cases to contact the authorities. This must stop,” he told Irish Mirror.
“Immediately call an animal organization,” he concludes, if you find animals.
He emphasizes that abandoned animals can be very stressed and scared, so it’s important to seek professional help instead of trying to save them yourself.
I will never understand why some people harm helpless animals.
