People hurting animals, that doesn’t sit well with me. Animals can hardly defend themselves, and when people are mean to animals, it breaks my heart. What they need is respect and love.
   Â
For example, the manatee, an endangered species, struggles to protect itself from human greed and violence.
   Â
This was evident in a video that recently surfaced on the internet and caused many outraged reactions.

   Â
Animals need to return to their natural habitats, whether in the ocean, savannah, jungle, or icy regions.
       Â
There, they belong and can thrive, where their young can grow and future generations can persist.
       Â
Unfortunately, not everyone shows that respect.
       Â
Dugongs are one of the most hunted animal species globally, as reported by Daily Mail.
       Â
It is illegal to hunt them, but that doesn’t stop people, especially for their meat.

   Â
Now circulating on the internet is a gruesome video showing seven men tethering a rope to a manatee and dragging the poor animal through the streets.
   Â
The distressed animal futilely tries to shield itself by placing its fins over its eyes.
   Â
There are also several loud voices heard in the background, with various onlookers standing by, filming as the distressed animal fights for its life.

Verachtelijke daad veroordeeld
   Â
The Nigerian Minister of Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, has condemned the video. The identities of the perpetrators are unknown.
   Â
“I saw a very disturbing and reprehensible video of some heartless youths callously pulling a manatee,” she writes on Twitter.
   Â
“It is sad that manatees still remain among the most hunted marine species,” she writes, emphasizing the importance of understanding how to protect animals.
   Â
An investigation has been initiated to locate the seven offenders.
   Â
Unfortunately, the fate of the animal is unknown.
Horrible to witness! No animal deserves such mistreatment. Authorities must track down and prosecute the offenders!
