Every Day She Visited a Stray Dog, What Happened 8 Days Later Made Her Cry

When animal lover Carley Coca heard that three dogs were wandering the streets near a church not far from her home in Florida, the woman decided to act quickly.

After work, Carley went to the church to rescue the three dogs. She managed to get two dogs into her car, but the third dog refused.

With a heavy heart, she had to leave the third dog behind, as she already had two dogs to take care of.

Cheeseburgers for Chance

However, every day the woman returned to the spot where the one remaining dog was hanging around. She tried to win his trust, thinking a bag of delicious cheeseburgers might help.

But on the eighth day, something remarkable happened. Something that left Carley in tears.
Since she was a child, Carley has loved animals. She even volunteered regularly at Paw Print Hearts, an animal association.
The woman knew she had to rescue the three dogs. Zeus, Lily, and Chance. Presumably all three abandoned by their old owner.

When she got Zeus and Lily in the car but not Chance, her heart broke. First, she wanted to make sure these two had a place to stay. Later, she would return to save Chance as well.
She did, trying to win his trust with 10 cheeseburgers. But every day he ran away in fear.

Chance Licks Her Hand

“I went to the shed where Chance always sleeps, and I called out that I was there. I sat next to him from a distance, for about 3 hours. And I threw hamburgers at him,” Carla told The Dodo.

But for seven days, Chance refused to get closer to Carley.
Then, on the eighth day, something remarkable happened when Carley visited the dog again.
“As I drove up, on the eighth day, Chance ran up to my car,” Carley said. “I reached my hand out the window and he licked me right away. I was in shock! I stepped out of the car and he started wagging his tail. I knew today would be the day.”

“I put my hand on his head and started petting him,” Carley told The Dodo. “I was nervous for his reaction, afraid he might bite, but he didn’t. He looked almost relieved. I started crying with happiness.”
Carley had finally gained the trust of the third stray dog, and thus she was able to bring him to safety.

Carley quickly took Chance to the vet, as he was covered with fleas, ticks, and mites. He was exhausted and severely underweight.
After receiving care, she took him home and is now caring for him.
Carley plans to care for him for three months, and then she wants to gift him to a loving family.

It breaks my heart when I think of all the dogs living on the streets or brutally abandoned. I can’t even imagine how Chance must have felt, considering he was so scared of people.
