Saying goodbye to your pet for the very last time can be incredibly painful for everyone. Anyone who has done this already knows how hard it is.
You might think that animals don’t realize what’s going on, but this cat, Andrew, knew all too well what was going to happen.
When Andrew Bernhard posted a picture of his cat on a forum during their final visit to the vet, the photo touched thousands of people.
Well, why? That’s explained below.
Cat Andrew has been living with his owner, also named Andrew, his whole life, ever since he was in school. Since then, they’ve been inseparable buddies.
They know each other inside out. Cat Andrew has seen his owner go through different stages of life, like when he went to university, but also when he got his first job. That’s according to Animal Rescue.
“Andrew was my little boy. He was a great guy. He was always happy to see everyone and won every fight with a dog. But now he’s very weak to do anything,” Andrew tells PEOPLE.
In the photo, we see Andrew and his partner on their way to the vet with their cat. What stands out is that the cat seems to realize what’s about to happen. Namely, that it’s the last time they will all be together, as he places his paw on Andrew’s arm.
‘He was holding our hands during the last trip to the vet. Little Andrew was much stronger than his mother and I,” wrote Andrew emotionally in the post.
“Understood that it was the end”
Andrew openly talks about how the cat got sicker and sicker, and he understood that his life was coming to an end.
“He purred every day, but when he stopped, I understood that he had reached his end,” wrote Andrew.
“Losing a friend is terrible.”
